Last April, Hyosung Chemical headed to Shanghai, China, to participate in 'CHINAPLAS 2024'. Now in its 36th year, CHINAPLAS is one of the world's top three plastics and rubber exhibitions, alongside Germany's K-SHOW and the United States’ NPE. It plays a significant role in facilitating business and exchange among domestic and international chemical companies.
This year's CHINAPLAS was grander than ever. As the economy slowly recovered from the pandemic, the event aimed to revitalize the industry. The exhibition covered a record-breaking 380,000 square meters, with 4,495 participating companies and institutions, creating a true spectacle of technology. The exhibition halls were bustling with visitors and buyers from around the world, eager to witness the future of petrochemicals.
The theme for this year's exhibition was smart manufacturing, advanced materials, and eco-friendly solutions. Unlike previous years, there was a strong focus on environmental sustainability, showcasing technologies and products that recycle plastic waste or use bio-based and biodegradable materials. Products related to eco-friendly mobility, such as electric vehicle components and solar panels, were also prominently featured.
For domestic companies, adopting a premium strategy to counter the volume-driven approach of Chinese firms provided an excellent opportunity to showcase differentiated sustainable and high-value-added material technologies. Hyosung Chemical, located in the prestigious Hall 6.2, attracted attention by exhibiting its pioneering sustainable new material 'POKETONE™' and the globally top-ranked PP-R pipe product 'R200P'. Let's take a closer look at their achievements this year.
Hyosung Chemical's Present and Future Met in Shanghai

In the PP/DH zone, visitors could explore products such as pipes, retort films, medical syringes, and HCPP/RTPO (raw materials used for automotive interior/exterior materials). Since starting this business in 1991, Hyosung Chemical's PP/DH PU has built a strong competitive edge under the brand 'HYOSUNG Polypropylene.' Notably, the PP-R pipe product 'R200P,' the first of its kind produced and supplied in Asia, has achieved remarkable sales growth due to its stable quality.
Another highlight was 'POKETONE™.' Showcasing its superior chemical resistance, wear resistance, and gas barrier properties, POKETONE met diverse customer needs with products for automotive and railway components, conveyor belts, water purifiers, and children's toys.
In the Film and PTMG zones, visitors could observe products more closely related to daily life. Various types and coatings of films used in food and electronics packaging and pharmaceutical products were introduced. Additionally, the raw material for CREORA spandex, as well as materials for tires and railway rail pads, garnered significant attention.
