Introduction to the ESG Brand "RE:GEN"

Hyosung Group has been striving not only to integrate sustainability into group management, but also to place the value of sustainability at the center of innovation.
Hyosung Group intends to use sustainable management as a new growth engine to fulfill its role and responsibilities to the environment and society to become a company of trust. So, we declared our ESG brand, “RE:GEN: Credo to Every Generation” in 2023 to promote engagement and dispersion of ESG among the Group's employees, partners, and customers.

Hyosung intends to contribute to creating a sustainable and safe earth and society that all generations want by expanding Hyosung’s founding philosophy of “establishment of a state on the basis of industries · pioneerigng spirit of challenge and creation· respect for human beings” and Hyosung Wei's mission of "leading a better life based on the best technology and management capabilities”.

By consolidating Hyosung's philosophy, technology, and management capabilities, we will internalize sustainable management and build a sustainable world with a virtuous cycle of partners, customers, investors, and communities.

'“RE:GEN” stands for “Reply to Every Generation's Future.” It conveys our ambition to create technologies and solutions for a safer and more prosperous world that both the present and future generations may enjoy. RE:GEN is also Hyosung's commitment to making the world a better place by incorporating the core values for practicing ESG.

RE:GEN

Visualization of RE:GEN aims to help anyone to understand the sincerity of Hyosung and our partners and to become the ESG company that more consumers can trust and participate in. RE:GEN BI does not just appeal to a specific trend or limited targets. The design was focused on the symbol for “actions with good intentions” that everyone can take part in by clearly delivering the value of a circular ecosystem through approachable design and technology that cover every generation. Specifically, the BI ① [Friendly] holds a friendly image as opposed to a strict and unidirectional delivery; ② [Easy] enables easy and intuitive delivery of complicated and difficult ESG information; ③ [Smart] leads to the new fundamental implementation of ESG in a smarter way using new technologies; and ④ [Genuine] expresses its genuine commitment to act with the future in mind. RE:GEN BI will enhance the will of everyone to participate and sympathize with ESG actions for a better generation.

RECYCLE & UPCYLE

Hyosung contributes to creating a circular economy to give discarded plastics and materials new life. We are constructing an eco-friendly closed-loop system to observe zero-waste at every stage, from the production of raw materials to the use of the final product.
In 2007, Hyosung developed the world's first technology to extract regen® Nylon yarn from raw materials recovered from discarded fishing nets that endanger the marine ecosystem. In 2008, it developed and manufactured for the first time in Korea regen® Polyester yarn recycled from waste PET bottles. Hyosung spares no effort in resource upcycling by partnering with multiple enterprises.

ZERO

Hyosung is discovering and implementing greenhouse gas reduction measures such as high-efficiency facility replacement, process improvement, and introduction of eco-friendly facilities to reduce the climate impact of greenhouse gases and meet the government's carbon neutral and green growth policies. In addition, Hyosung is developing various products that contribute to carbon reduction such as energy storage device ESS, carbon fiber, and polyketone.

NEW ENERGY

Hyosung recognizes the pivotal role of new and renewable energy in replacing fossil fuels. We are continuously developing innovative technologies to ensure the safe and widespread utilization of new and renewable energy like hydrogen and wind power as a primary energy source in our daily lives. Hyosung is leading energy innovation by developing materials and technologies for energy efficiency along with the commercialization of new and renewable energy.

SAVE

Hyosung is committed to reducing resource use and minimizing risk factors in all aspects of production and operation. Hyosung is making various efforts to reduce energy and resource use by creating an optimized production environment through the establishment of a smart factory, and to develop alternatives to minimize hazardous chemicals during the manufacturing process.

RE:GEN Development Direction

Based on RE:GEN, Hyosung is developing and carrying out plans to strengthen the group's sustainable management activities and spread the participation of stakeholders. Hyosung Group's major affiliates have introduced ESG brands that combine corporate business characteristics. RE:GEN of major affiliates expresses that Hyosung Group's business activities are oriented toward sustainable management as a reflection of Hyosung's willingness to sustainable management in each company's brand vision.

RE:GEN ALLIANCE “accompanying for every generation"

RE:GEN ALLIANCE is a cooperative program that promotes the value of sustainability socially and contributes to the business performance of participating companies with competent eco-friendly small and medium-sized enterprises that want to share the will with Hyosung. RE:GEN ALLIANCE is a Win-Win activity that supports the growth of participants and helps them introduce the value of RE:GEN and our products and solutions that reflect it to consumers." We have signed ALLIANCE contracts with around 15 small and medium-sized enterprises that produce excellent eco-friendly products, such as Harlie K and 119REO. We plan to recruit more members for the alliance. The RE:GEN ALLIANCE will work to spread more ESG values based on the value of “accompanying for every generation,” and the goal is to expand the ESG ecosystem to all social levels.
