Hyosung Heavy Industries Moves to Create Hydrogen Economy Ecosystem in Seoul

2025.05.29

Hyosung Heavy Industries is partnering with Seoul Energy Corporation to create a hydrogen economy ecosystem through the construction of liquefied hydrogen infrastructure.

On the 28th, Hyosung Heavy Industries signed a business agreement with Seoul Energy Corporation for the ‘creation of a hydrogen economy ecosystem’ at Hyosung Heavy Industries’ head office in Mapo-gu, Seoul. Key officials, including Woo Tae-hee, CEO of Hyosung Heavy Industries, and Hwang Bo-yeon, President of Seoul Energy Corporation, attended the signing ceremony.

With this agreement, the two companies plan to jointly promote the ▲construction of liquefied hydrogen charging stations and development of safety standards ▲cooperation in localizing and verifying hydrogen charging facilities ▲discovery of joint clean hydrogen power generation projects, etc.

Hyosung Heavy Industries has been pursuing the total solution business for hydrogen charging stations and is top-ranked in market share for the domestic hydrogen charging system. In 2021, it established both a production joint venture, Linde Hydrogen Energy, and a sales joint venture, Hyosung Hydrogen, with global gas and chemical company Linde. From these efforts, Hyosung Heavy Industries plans to sell and supply liquefied hydrogen, and has constructed its first liquefied hydrogen charging station in Gwangyang, Jeollanam-do in October last year, with plans to build a total of 21 charging stations nationwide.

Hyosung Heavy Industries CEO Woo Tae-hee said, “We will support Seoul to become a leading city in hydrogen mobility through the company’s know-how and technological prowess in the hydrogen charging business that it has accumulated for nearly 20 years and the partnership made with Seoul Energy Corporation.”
