Hyosung TNC offices go without paper cups

Executives and employees of Hyosung TNC, the country′s leading eco-friendly textile company, are joining hands to reduce the use of disposable products in their daily lives.
Hyosung TNC said that it was launching a "use personal cups at office" campaign to foster an eco-friendly corporate culture. About 460 executives and employees at the Mapo Head Office and the Banpo office will participate in the campaign that will start on May 3.
The campaign, designed to reduce the use of disposable products in daily life, follows the eco-friendly campaign "Go Go Challenge," which was held in February and participated by Hyosung TNC CEO Kim Yong-seup.
Under the campaign, Hyosung TNC will remove single-use products, including paper cups, from the pantries of the head office. Executives and employees will be allowed to use both personal reusable cups and single-use products until the end of this month, but will start using only personal cups next month. The company will pay for the reusable personal cups.
Last year, Hyosung TNC is estimated to have used about 190,000 paper cups at its head office. It expects that the campaign will reduce the use of paper cups resulting in a cut of carbon dioxide emissions by about 2 tons per year.
Hyosung TNC CEO Kim Yong-seup said, "Hyosung TNC has taken its position as a leading eco-friendly company by contributing to the establishment of a virtuous cycle of resources with the recycled fiber ′regen.′″ ″We will continue to expand environmental protection activities that can be carried out in everyday life along with executives and employees."
Hyosung TNC is promoting a "Regen Project" in which the company recycles PET bottles collected in Seoul and Jeju into fibers named ″Regen Seoul" and "Regen Jeju."
The company is also enlarging the domestic recycled fiber market by expanding collection of reusable materials to the sea in cooperation with Yeosu Gwangyang Port Authority and developing "Regen Ocean" recently.
