Hyosung TNC’s Recycled Polyester Re:gen Receives ‘Environmental Label’ Certification

Hyosung TNC’s recycled polyester Re:gen has become the first product in the domestic textile industry to receive Environmental Label certification.
Among the EL314 product categories, Re:gen is the only yarn product in the domestic textile industry to receive the Environmental Label certification from the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute, which operates under the Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate.
The Environmental Label certification system aims to provide consumers with environmental information about products to promote eco-friendly consumption, and to encourage companies to develop and produce environmentally friendly products, thereby establishing a sustainable production and consumption system. Until now, Environmental Label certification has mainly been granted to products in the housing, construction materials, and equipment sectors.
Through obtaining the Environmental Label certification, Hyosung TNC has secured verified eco-friendliness that both brands and consumers can trust, based on a domestic production system using domestically sourced recycled materials.
Furthermore, Re:gen’s certification is significant not only in demonstrating environmental friendliness but also in officially verifying eco-performance with public institutions, based on “improved resource circulation” and “reduction of hazardous substances.”
Recently, the global textile and fashion industries have seen an increase in products emphasizing sustainability, along with growing demand for verified transparency to ensure the reliability of environmental claims and prevent greenwashing.
Accordingly, when using Re:gen certified with the Environmental Label in Korea, it is officially recognized as an eco-friendly material product without the need for separate environmental verification procedures, alleviating concerns about greenwashing. It is also included among the priority procurement targets for government and public institutions.
