Kickstarted the‘Eco Truck’ Campaign with Pleatsmama

Hyosung TNC held a campaign to unveil its eco truck in tandem with Pleatsmama to mark Resource Recycling Day and raise awareness of the importance of resource recycling by providing activities, such as making games and souvenirs, for employees to participate in. 

Hyosung TNC announced that it held the ‘Honk Honk Pleatsmama Eco Truck with Employees’ event at its headquarters in Mapo-gu, Seoul on the 6th (afternoon) as part of the ‘Circular Regen’ campaign that has persisted for its third year.

The ‘Circular Regen’ campaign installs PET bottle collection boxes at domestic corporate sites and give away products made with Hyosung TNC’s recycled textile Regen to employees who collect PET bottles.

On this day, Hyosung TNC unveiled the eco truck in cooperation with eco-friendly startup brand Pleatsmama. Hyosung TNC has been working with Pleatsmama, which makes fashion products using Regen yarn, on domestic recycling projects, including Regen Jeju, since 2020. They have also been collaborating to transform Hyosung TNC’s new materials, such as waste fishing net recycling and garment recycling, into fashion products. 

On this occasion, they worked together to manufacture the eco truck to collect discarded PET bottles and stage in-person events, toward establishing a domestic resource circulation system. About 100 employees who participated in the campaign through pre-registration undertook various activities, such as creating recycling-related games and eco-friendly souvenirs, within the eco truck that appeared in the headquarters parking lot.


Those who brought used PET bottles and put them in the collection box were entitled to play the game, which was designed to help them understand the process of PET bottles being transformed into Regen by watching the screen installed in the truck. Employees who moved to different souvenir-making experiential zones according to the game results made Regen fiber name tags or accessories with PET bottle caps. 

Hyosung TNC expects that through this event, employees will learn more about recycled textile Regen and develop a sense of ownership in ESG management, which is a key agenda of theirs.

CEO Chi-hyung Kim of Hyosung TNC said, "In the resource circulation sector, Hyosung TNC is leading ESG activities at the forefront, with a focus on sustainable material Regen," and underscored "We will practice sustainable management in all business sectors by embracing the growing supply of recycled textile materials.". 


Hyosung TNC launched the ‘Officewide Use of Personal Cups’ campaign in 2021 to reduce disposable cup usage in the office by using tumblers, and kickstarted the Circular Regen campaign at the headquarters in 2022. In its second year, last year, this campaign was expanded to regional corporate sites nationwide, including Ulsan, Gumi, and Daegu. Hyosung TNC installed additional PET bottle collection boxes within the group in August, and has announced that it plans to further expand the Circular Regen campaign looking ahead.
