Hyosung announced on June 1 that it donated funds to global children’s rights NGO Good Neighbors to support the descendants of Korean independence patriots residing in Uzbekistan.
This project was organized to express heartfelt gratitude and respect for independence patriots who dedicated their lives to the nation and their descendants on the occasion of June, the Month of Honoring National Patriots and Veterans. The beneficiaries are 33 individuals from 13 households, including descendants of independence patriots and stateless Koryo-saram residing in Uzbekistan.
Hyosung and Good Neighbors plan to provide customized support by identifying the living conditions and needs of each household based on on-site field surveys. Through this effort, Hyosung plans to help descendants of independence patriots live in a more stable, comfortable environment.
The details of key support include: improving the residential environment by installing boilers; providing highly efficient household appliances made in Korea such as refrigerators and washing machines; supplying daily necessities such as bedding and furniture; and offering basic health checkups and emergency livelihood assistance.
Meanwhile, Hyosung has consistently carried out social contribution activities related to patriots and veterans by inviting persons of national merit and their families to go on outings, as well as having its employees regularly visit Seoul National Cemetery to clean up the burial grounds.
