HYOSUNG received the Korea Human Rights Award for Persons with Disabilities 2023 in recognition of its role in the enhancement of disabled people’s human rights during the ceremony held at E-room Center in Yeouido, Seoul on December 1.
Hosted by the relevant committee and sponsored by the Korea Differently Abled Federation, said award was first established in 1999 in connection with the need to enhance disabled people’s human rights and the awareness of such people.
HYOSUNG has strived to enhance disabled people’s human rights through provision of medical services for disabled people, support for disabled artists and those engaging in cultural activities, and creation of jobs for them. Said award was presented to the Company in recognition of such efforts.
In the area of provision of medical services for the disabled, the Company, jointly with the Purme Foundation, has provided support for the rehabilitation of handicapped children and free dental services for the handicapped. In the area of provision of support for disabled artists and those engaging in cultural activities, the Company has provided financial support for disabled artists in the Seoul Arts Creation Center for Disabled for years. Finally, in the area of job creation for those with severe disability, the Company has provided financial support to the Eden Welfare Foundation including provision of computer equipment/devices. The Company’s employees also join in the effort to donate goods to Good Will Store.
“We at HYOSUNG make it a point to grow with the local community and neighbors,” Hyosung Chairman CHO Hyun-joon said, referring to the saying “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
HYOSUNG engages in an array of social contribution activities under the slogan of “We will share others’ difficulties,” including provision of support for less-privileged people, support for disabled artists and those engaging in cultural activities, and effort for the protection of the homeland and provision of support for war veterans.
