Hyosung, introduces the polyketone brand ‘POKETONE™’ to the global market

2016.04.22

Hyosung participates in ‘Chinaplas® 2016’, the largest plastic-industry expo of plastics in Asia and the second most influential event in the world, held in Shanghai, China for 4 days from the coming 25th to 28th and introduces to the Chinese and global market ‘POKETONE™’, the new brand of polyketone which is the firstly commercialized engineering plastic material in the world.

In this exhibition, Hyosung's Polyketone Business Division of the Chemical PG participates and introduces Hyosung's products made by applying POKETONE, such auto parts as connectors and fuel inlet and also such electric and electronic parts as gear and switches, and also exhibits such industrial products as oil & gas pipe, yarn for tire cord and membrane module.

Mr. Park Joon-hyung Head of Chemical PG (president) said, “I am very happy to have a chance, this year again following the last year, to promote to the Chinese and global market the excellence of the new environment-friendly engineering plastic material POKETONE, the first product commercialized successfully on the basis of Hyosung's independent technology. Through this opportunity, we will strive to strengthen our partnership with current client companies and develop new sales route so that our POKETONE with better durability than the previous engineering plastics can lead the global engineering plastics market.”

POKETONE Hyosung has succeeded in developing by devoting themselves for the past 10 years is a new environment-friendly engineering plastic material made from olefin and carbon monoxide, culprit of air pollution. 0.5 ton of carbon monoxide is consumed for producing 1 ton of polyketone. Hence, polyketone is environment-friendly because producing 50 thousand ton of polyketone has the effect of planting 3.8 million pine trees. Also, as polyketone has more than 2.3 times better impact strength and more than 30% better chemical-resistance than nylon, and more than 14 times better abrasion-resistance than polyacetal (POM), it is considered to have better properties than any other new material developed so far.

In this year's ‘Chinaplas®’ marking the 30th event, more than 3,300 companies from about 40 countries participate in exhibition and 140 thousand visitors are expected to come, and so it is anticipated to be the optimal chance and place for promoting the new environment-friendly material ‘POKETONE’ commercialized by Hyosung for the first time in the world.
