Packaging PU Expand PET Bottle Business with Ajinomoto in Japan

On November 18, officials from Hyosung Packaging PU, its Japanese subsidiary and Ajinomoto held a meeting at the Tokyo-based headquarters of Ajinomoto and signed an agreement to expand the PET bottle trade for Calpis soda next year. Earlier this year, Packaging PU competed with Japanese rivals over the 2012 exclusive right to supply Calpis soda bottles to the Japanese food-processing giant. As the result, Hyosung Packaging PU achieved a remarkable feat by being selected as a main supplier for the company for the first time since it began exporting PET bottles to Japan in 1996.

Calpis soda, one of Japan’s representative beverage brands, mainly utilizes heat & pressure-resistance 500㎖ PET bottles. Packaging PU received a favorable evaluation from Ajinomoto as it contributed to cost reduction through its weight reduction technology and suggested a creative design.
