    Brazil

    - Targeting the South American market with high-growth potential to take the lead in the world

Spandex PU’s Creora, the #1 spandex fiber brand in the world, has finally completed its spandex manufacturing plant in Brazil, to start targeting the South American market. Located in the state of Santa Catarina in southern Brazil, the $100M-plant has an annual production of 10,000 tons and began production in September 20. Spandex PU will further expand production capacity by 20,000 tons in the future, to increase its annual production volume from 120,000 tons, currently, to 150,000 tons in 2012.

Brazil is South America’s largest spandex market, and grows by 5% every year. In particular, because Brazil is scheduled to host the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Summer Olympics, its sportswear and textile market is expected to grow quite significantly. The Spandex PU has been expanding its production plants in not only Korea, but also China, Vietnam, and Turkey since the 1990s to face the Chinese and Asian markets and the European premium market. With the newest addition in Brazil, the PU now has a production network that spans into a further continent.

Meanwhile, the Spandex PU has been holding the ‘Creora Workshop’ regularly since last year to increase its global competitiveness for customers in Brazil, and in so doing has received much interest and praise from local customers. The Creora Workshop is a marketing activity where Hyosung, the fiber supplier, provides information on the latest global fashion trends to textile companies and fashion houses in Brazil – as well as offering methods and ideas for developing textiles using Creora
