Hyosung Advanced Materials attended Milipol Paris 2024, held from November 14-17, to promote its ALKEX®, Aramid yarn, and other products.

Milipol Paris is a biennial expo for the homeland security and safety-related industries that is sponsored by the French Ministry of the Interior. More than eight hundred businesses attended the 2021 event, which attracted more than 22,000 people from 138 countries.

Hyosung Advanced Materials aimed to promote its Aramid yarn ALKEX® to major customer businesses in Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East among others, as well as presenting its excellent bullet- and knife-proof solutions at the expo.

Aramid is known as a “super fiber” because its tensile strength is about five times higher than that of steel for a given volume and it can withstand temperatures as high as 500 degrees centigrade. It is applied in a wide range of fields such as helmets, materials used to reinforce optical cables and vehicle tires, and firefighters' uniforms, etc. The market for it Aramid expected to post an annual average growth rate of about 4% over the next five years.

The Company succeeded in commercializing ALKEX® on its own in 2009. It has expanded its Aramid factory in Ulsan in step with the growing demand and now has the capability to produce 3,700 tons of Aramid per year.
