Five leading HYOSUNG affiliates (HYOSUNG Corporation, HYOSUNGTNC, HYOSUNG Heavy Industries, HYOSUNG Advanced Materials, and HYOSUNG Chemical) were certified as businesses making substantial contribution to the local community in a ceremony held at Seoul Dragon City Hotel on December 8.
Said certification is done annually by the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW) and the Korea National Council on Social Welfare. This year, the businesses so certified were selected through a process of screening based on 25 items in 3 categories: Environment management, Social responsibility, and Governance.
The five aforesaid HYOSUNG affiliates have been so certified for five years in a row since 2019. Noteworthy is the fact that their certification has been focused on the following factors: provision of support to welfare centers for handicapped children; provision of rice to needy families in Mapo-gu, Seoul; provision of daily necessities to less-privileged households; provision of support for rehabilitation programs for handicapped children; provision of support for handicapped artists’ creative activities, etc.
“We at HYOSUNG make it a point to go together with the local community in everything,” Hyosung Chairman CHO Hyun-joon said, referring to the saying “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”
HYOSUNG engages in an array of social contribution activities under the slogan of “We will share others’ difficulties,” including provision of support for less-privileged people, support for disabled artists and those engaging in cultural activities, and effort for the protection of the homeland and provision of support for war veterans.
