On May 12th, Hyosung visited headquarters of ROK Army and donated 100 million KRW to fund the ‘Patriotic Housing’ project.
The ‘Patriotic Housing’ project selects struggling veterans who served in the Korean War and Vietnam War to protect the people of Korea, and renovates their houses to enjoy a better life.
According to ROK Army, there are over 130 thousand Korean War veterans, with an average age of 86, while the majority of the 200 thousand Vietnam War veterans are living under basic welfare policies. Most of these veterans require consistent and sincere care to improve their daily living, moreover their housing.
To embed the patriotic spirit of the employees of Hyosung, Hyosung has supported this project since 2012. Hysoung, adjoined with ROK Army, public institutes and other companies, is supporting the project and is planning to help 30 war veterans to live in a better environment.
Executive Vice President ROH Jae-bong, attending the event quoted “Respecting war veterans who sacrificed for Korea, is how to implement patriotism” and “I hope we can share at least a fraction of our respect and gratefulness for their service”.
Meanwhile, as part of patriotic activities, Hyosung executed a one-company, one-tomb treaty with Seoul National Cemetery and Daejeon National Cemetery. Directors and employees from around the country provides their time and hands to clean the tombs, and pay their respect to each veteran. Hyosung U.S.A., Inc. also holds a reception for the Korean War veterans and their family members.
