2015.11.23

Hyosung introduced the world's largest bullet-proof panel which used the aramid fiber ALKEX® in an international defense industry exhibition‘Milipol Paris 2015’ held in Paris, France from the past 17th to 20th, and attracted attention there.

This bullet-proof panel is made by spraying 'Resin' to glass fiber, aramid fiber or carbon fiber, and mainly used for the construction, defense and energy industries. Also, it is used for protection in the financial industry, bullet-proof vehicles, and emergency facility to prepare for such disasters as hurricane or earthquakes.

The introduced bullet-proof panel developed jointly by Hyosung and the small company specialized in thermo-plastic composite materials AXIA Materials Co. is the world's largest as a single size with 3m width and 12m length. Compared to the previous products, this is 3 times wide and has higher bullet-proof performance due to absence of the weak connection part. As this panel uses the thermo-plastic resin, this has additional advantages of being recyclable and environment-friendly. In particular, being made in light weight and large width, this is quickly installed or disassembled, and as this can be used together with insulations, sound-absorbing materials and flame retarding materials, this is expected to be widely used in the future.

In this exhibition, Hyosung made active marketing actions and tried to secure customers from main companies of the advanced bullet-proof markets, Europe and America. In particular, the company completed the exhibition successfully having meeting with about 100 companies in safe in the midst of fear coming from the Paris terror.

Especially thanks to the world's largest bullet-proof panel released under the circumstance that interest in safety was growing in each country, customers paid much attention to Hyosung's ALKEX®. The newly introduced large scale bullet-proof panel received the positive estimation that it can be an effective solution for customers through providing new value such as working hour reduction as well as from the aspect of safety strengthening.

Mr. Cho Hyun-sang Head of the Industrial Materials PG (vice president) said, “I am happy to introduce to customers visiting Milipol Paris 2015 the ‘thermo-plastic bullet-proof panel’ developed jointly with AXIA Materials Co. by applying ALKEX the high value-added aramid fiber Hyosung developed with its own technologies,” and “Hyosung will continue to provide safety solutions necessary for customers by taking a lead in developing diverse uses on the basis of solid partnership”.

On the other hand, Hyosung introduced various products making use of aramid in this exhibition, in addition to the bullet-proof panel, such as prepreg the bullet-proof function strengthened film for helmets, and a fabric certified by US National Institute of Justice (NIJ), and succeeded in attracting customers' attention.
