Hyosung announced on 30th that the company held a tribute event for Korean War veterans and their families on 30th (local time), the anniversary of the end of Korean War, at the Redstone Arsenal located in Huntsville, Alabama.
This event has been prepared by Hyosung’s US corporation Hyosung USA every year since 2013 to remember and express gratitude for the US soldiers who sacrificed and gave their efforts to defend Republic of Korea.
In this year’s event, 82 veterans and about 100 families of theirs, US Army Grand General Dennis L. Via (US Army Material Command Commander), Trulock Troy Madison Mayor and Battle Tommy Huntsville Mayor attended. Hyosung presented a stick made of Hyosung’s carbon fiber as a gift to the veterans and their families.
The State of Alabama where Hyosung’s business places are located is the place many Korean War veterans reside together with the near southeast regions including Georgia and Tennessee. Local media and organizations showed enthusiastic interests in this event.
Mr. Newton Duke who was a war prisoner at the time of Korean War recalled his 26 month long suffering from hunger and coldness at near the Aprok River, and another veteran Mr. Don G Fowler Jr. said, “Watching development of Korea, I am so proud that my hardship at the cold battle field was worthwhile.”
Leader of the Hyosung Sharing Volunteer Corps Cho Hyun-sang said, “We always keep in mind that we exist today thanks to US war veterans who sacrificed their lives for the peace of Republic of Korea,” and “Hyosung will keep the sense of gratitude through our activities for the Korean War veterans who gave their efforts to defend our nation.”
Hyosung has held the tribute event for Korean War veterans since 2013 for the first time as a Korean company which entered US, and has been doing social contribution activities remembering achievements of soldiers who serviced for the nation and supporting them such as fund donation to ‘Patriots Home’ which has been the joint program with Army since 2012 to repair old housing of Korean War veterans, and the 1 Company-1 Cemetery Agreement made with national cemeteries located near each workplace since 2014 and the regular cemetery cleaning activities by top management and employees.
