Hyosung, participated in the world largest defense industry exhibition ‘Eurosatory 2016’

Hyosung participated in the world largest defense industry exhibition ‘Eurosatory 2016’ held in Paris, France to introduce superlight aramid bulletproof helmets and is getting attention from the defense industry.

The Eurosatory is the world largest ground weapon exhibition and this year about 1,500 companies from 53 countries over the world participated.

At this exhibition, introducing the aramid ALKEX® developed independently by Hyosung, aramid fabric safety of which was certified by a research institute of US Department of Justice (NIJ: National Institute of Justice) and final products that made use of ALKEX® on the basis of newly developed technology, Hyosung had a chance to extend the PR target to the bulletproof product makers.

During the exhibition, Hyosung did marketing activities for the major companies of the advanced market of bulletproof industry, Europe and America, and had business meetings with about 50 companies.

In particular, as the ‘superlight aramid bulletproof helmet’ introduced for the first time at this exhibition reduced the weight by more than 10% while keeping the bulletproof performance of the previous aramid helmets, interest of the industry is focused on the helmet.

Hyosung is leading in developing performance improvement solutions for the aramid-applied products, and the newly developed weight lightening technology can be diversely applied to bulletproof jackets as well as helmets.

As the bulletproof industry recently has much interest in and demand for weight lightening, this technology is anticipated to be highly usable and, at the same time, enter the high value-add product market.

Mr. Cho Hyun-sang the Head of Industrial Materials PG (vice president) said, “Under the circumstance that concern for safety is growing over the whole world, we are able to strengthen customers’ safety and activity by providing the highly lighted bulletproof technology,” and, “we will continue to respond preemptively to the market through investigating customer needs and provide safe and highly functional aramid yarn on the basis of trust obtained through quality certification.”

On the other hand, at this ‘Eurosatory 2016’, the Korea-France Industry and Military Joint Committee Meeting was held with attendees from the Korea Defense Acquisition Program Administration, Korea Defense Industry Association and French International Cooperation Development Center of the Defense Procurement Agency, to introduce defense companies of each country and discuss over cooperation plans between the two countries.

At this place, Director Lee Shi-yeon of the Aramid Business Division, Hyosung Industrial Material PG explained the bulletproof performance of ALKEX® by introducing Hyosung’s aramid ALKEX® and bulletproof technology to the French Department of Defense.
