On July 1st, Hyosung won the excellence price from the Minister of Trade Industry and Energy at the ASEAN-Korea 10th anniversary ceremony held at COEX, Seoul.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy opened this event to celebrate the 10 years of trading and investment through the Free Trade Agreement executed between Korea and ASEAN, and to expand the economic, cultural and human exchange among Korea and ASEAN members. As the tenth anniversary of ASEAN-Korea FTA, adding the fact that the year of 2017 marks the 50th anniversary of ASEAN provides significance to this event.
The photo contest, held as a side event, exhibited photos of companies from Korea and ASEAN members. The excellence award won by Hyosung, is the most prestigious award granted to participants, where the ’Miso Expedition’, Hyosung’s voluntary overseas medical service corp, was awarded for its photo taken during its volunteer work from 2015, conducting a medical check at the Phuoc Tien Elementary School located in Vinh Phuc, Vietnam. A photo from Hyosung’s 2015 kindergarten construction work in Vietnam, jointly conducted with the Export-Import Bank of Korea, was also included in one of the 5 finalists.
Established to produce spandex and tire cords at the industrial complex in Nhun Trach, Dong Nai, Vietnam back in 2007, the vietnam division has recorded surplus for 8 consecutive years since 2009 and broke the 1 trillion KRW milestone in annual revenue.
Hyosung has operated Miso Expedition, a voluntary overseas medical service corp since 2011, and is conducting continuous social contribution activities in the regional Vietnamese area, including last year’s kindergarten new build project jointly conducted with the Export-Import Bank of Korea. Hyosung’s efforts were rewarded by Vietnam’s Ministry of Planning and Investment and Hyosung received a remarkable social responsibility company award in 2015.
