Hyosung and the Export-Import Bank of Korea cooperate to newly build the Hiep Phuoc Kindergarten at the Nhon Trach area of the Dong Nai Province located near Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam for 7 nights and 8 days from May 20th to 27th.

The Export-Import Bank of Korea has been doing global sharing activities to contribute to cultural exchange and friendship enhancing between Korea and the countries into which companies supported by the export financing have entered, in association with its identity as the core bank for foreign businesses.

Particularly from 2015, the bank has been doing local social contributions jointly with the client companies that have entered into foreign countries, to support overseas advancement of Korean companies.

This year, Vietnam has been chosen as the beneficiary country. Hyosung entered into Vietnam in 2007 and has accomplished 1 trillion won sales since 2014, occupying at least 1% of the total export by Vietnam. Hiring a total of 5,000+ local Vietnamese, Hyosung Vietnam has been established as one of the foreign companies considered very important by the Vietnamese government. Hyosung dispatches the overseas medical volunteer corps called ‘Smile Expedition’ every year since 2011 and is actively doing social contributions, besides commercial activities, including donation of a library to local elementary schools.

In this outreach service, Hyosung and the Export-Import Bank of Korea are newly building the Hiep Phuoc Kindergarten at the Nhon Trach area of the Dong Nai Province near Hyosung Vietnam Division. Such necessary educational equipment as desks, book cases and blackboards, as well as computers, playing facilities and books will be provided to the Hiep Phuoc Kindergarten to be built as a first story building of the area of 203m2.

The Export-Import Bank of Korea dispatched the employee volunteer corps to this activity and Hyosung let 30+ local employees of Hyosung Vietnam Division support interpretation and kindergarten construction. In particular, Hyosung head office also dispatched 4 ‘outstanding volunteer employees’, who were recommended and chosen out of the highly involved employees of the Hyosung Sharing Volunteer Corps operated by voluntary participation of employees.

Executive Director Jo Won-yong of Hyosung said, “Vietnam Division which is the largest overseas workplace of our company is already doing win-win with the local community and getting credit for it from the local residents through various social contributions,” and “Hyosung will continue to be a good company providing necessary help for the vulnerable social group of the Dong Nai Province.”

In the meantime, Hyosung got credit for its active sharing activities in Vietnam and was awarded the Minister of Planning & Investment Prize in the ‘Vietnam Social Responsibility Management Award Ceremony’ held at the Hyatt Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City in December of the last year. Hyosung will dispatch the 6th Smile Expedition in the coming August and continue socially responsible management activities such as donation of computers to nearby schools and grant of scholarship to students of the vulnerable social group.
