Hyosung announced on 2nd that the metro buses loaded with the carbon fiber material CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) vessel made by the company with Jeollabukdo, Jeonbuk Creative Economy Innovation Center and Iljin Complex Materials were released and a total of 10 buses have been distributed to Jeonju, Gunsan and Iksan.
The carbon fiber CNG vessel program started on the basis pf MOU signed by Hyosung and Jeollabukdo in November of the last year when the Jeonbuk Creative Economy Innovation Center was opened in Jeonju, and recently produced the result. Using the carbon fiber produced by Hyosung’s Jeonju plant, Iljin Complex Materials made the CNG vessels at the Wanju plant and supplied those vessels to Zyle Daewoo Buses Co., Ltd. Jeollabukdo played the role of overall control such as role adjustment between institutions and support.
The carbon fiber material CNG vessel is lighter than the existing steel material vessel by more than twice. It has the effect of improving mileage because the nearly 1 ton weight of the gas vessel and module combined was reduced by 500kg~600kg, and it is environment-friendly because the emission gas has been reduced.
This vessel is outstanding in safety. The vessel made of carbon fiber material can minimize the risk of explosion because of increased tensile strength. Also, as the carbon fiber material CNG vessel does not scatter fragments when exploded, unlike the steel vessel, the risk of passenger injury can be reduced.
Beginning with 10 buses this year, Jeollabukdo will distribute 10 more buses loaded with the carbon fiber material CNG vessel produced by Hyosung in the next year, and will implement the 2nd phase of the distribution program from 2017.
