Hyosung selected as an outstanding company for climate change competitiveness.
Hyosung was selected as an outstanding company for climate change competitiveness in textile and received a plaque at the awards ceremony for ‘Outstanding Companies for Climate Change Competitiveness’ held in COEX, Seoul on September 30. Outstanding Companies for Climate Change Competitiveness are those among Korean firms that especially showed outstanding responses to regulations on greenhouse gas emissions and changes in market environments by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI)’s assessment of Korean firms based on the ‘Korea Climate Change Index’. The KCCI has been selecting and announcing outstanding companies in each industry since 2008, and total 361 companies were assessed this year, and 14 of them were selected as outstanding companies.
Hyosung is expected to secure additional 350,000 tons of early reductions by exceeding the permissible emissions of the greenhouse gas reduction goal every year since 2012. Thus, the early reductions that can be secured by Hyosung are approximately 500,000 tons, which is 37% of the 1.35 million tons of the annual emissions.
