The 30th Memorial Ceremony for the Late Chairman Manwoo Cho Hong-je was held on January 15 at the family burial ground in Byeokje, Gyeonggi. Vice Chairman Lee Sang-woon as well as the bereaved family and over 100 former and current employees attended the event, praying for the repose of the deceased in front of the grave.
Born in 1906 in Haman, Gyeongnam, Chairman Cho was a great entrepreneur who founded this company and maintained the right path his whole life with the determination to devote himself to his country and people as well as to establish a state on the basis of industries, and he contributed greatly to the economic development of Korea. He especially fostered the key industries that formed a foundation for our society such as textile, tire and heavy industry, and he turned Hyosung into a leading conglomerate in Korea in merely 10 years. He was also keen on educational work and thus served as chairman of Baemyeong Middle & High School Foundation as well as chairman of Dongyang Academy Foundation.
