Eonyang Plant held “Excellence Award at Ulsan Environment Award” plaque hanging ceremony
On April 17th, the Eonyang Plant held a plaque hanging ceremony in celebration of receiving the excellence award at the 2011 Ulsan Environment Award with the head of the plant, officials, the assistant prosecutor general of the Ulsan District Public Prosecutor’s Office and the head of the Environment Protection Committee taking part. The Ulsan Environment Award, held by the Environment Protection Committee, is an authoritative award in the environment sector, the country’s one and only award held in cooperation with local governments, prosecutor’s offices and private environmental organizations. The Eonyang Plant attained the glory of receiving the excellence award through unceasing efforts to improve. Particularly, the Eonyang Plant introduced a high-efficiency Membrane Type Filter Press to mend 300 million won for disposing of 6000 tons of sludge generated every year after waste water treatment, and it resulted in reducing the amount of sludge generated by 67% and the waste disposal cost by 200 million won. Plus, this non-chemical machine has been a big help in stable management of waste water treatment and improvement of working environments. Further, the Eonyang Plant made a contribution to improve the water quality of the Taehwagang (river) by disposing of non-biodegradable wastewater through an evaporation method, inflowing the wastewater into a sewage disposal plant and consequently reducing the amount of contaminants by more than 80% of the permissible level.
