Smile Expedition Offers Free Medical Services in Vietnam

Established to expand sharing overseas, Hyosung overseas medical volunteer group “Smile Expedition” visited the Bintan area near Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from August 13 to 20. The second trip for dispensing medical services, following the first volunteer activities in 2011, was taken by medical teams consisting of doctors and nurses from dental, pediatric, surgical, internal and orthopedic fields of Soul National University Hospital and Sunlin Hospital in Pohang, as well as by kindergarten teachers. Hyosung employees dispatched from Korea and staff members of the overseas aid NGO Korea Food for the Hungry International assisted in the volunteer medical activities. In addition, the employees of the Hyosung Vietnam Plant joined to provide nterpretation, medical assistance and cleaning activities.

The Dong Nai area in Vietnam is home to Hyosung’s spandex and tire cord manufacturing facilities. Hyosung has been contributing to activating the local economy by hiring about 4000 local people, along with scholarship support for local students.
