Hyosung wins Jang Young Shil Award for its reactive power compensation device (STATCOM)

The FACTS TFT of Power & Industrial Systems R&D Center and the Jeju STATCOM PJT TFT of Power Systems PU won the IR 52 Jang Young Shil Award for the 30^th week for STATCOM.

STATCOM is a system for preventing power failures by flexibly controlling the power network according to the energy flows and other situations. The Power & Industrial Systems R&D Center and the Korea Electric Power Research Institute, for the first time in Korea, jointly developed the independent 100 MVA STATCOM. The system is currently being used at the 345kV substation in Migeum and also two 50MVA STATCOMs were installed in Jeju and are in the final commissioning stage.
