A critical biography which sheds new light on the life and achievements of current Hyosung Group advisor Song In-sang was published with the title of . Song In-sang is an influential senior member of the economic world who has served as both the Minister of Development and the Minister of Finance. His dramatic life experiences spanning almost a century unfold in this book which contains stories related to the domestic economic development which he personally pursued and experienced, including the economic stability policy after liberation from the Japanese colonial rule, restoration of the war-damaged country in the wake of the Korean War, the export-driven policy of the third republic and development of the private economy, as well as their behind-the-scenes stories.
Comprised of six chapters including ‘The fixer in turbulent times,’ ‘Master negotiator,’ ‘Pioneer of independent economy,’ ‘Lonely Adam Smith,’ ‘Talent nurturing talents,’ and ‘Human Song In-sang,’ the biography tells secrets associated with determination of various economic policies including execution of aid funds from the United States during his term as the minister of development and economic coordinator and establishment of a long-term economic development plan, as well as Song’s efforts to nurture talented people in both the public and private sectors and humane aspects, and his relationships with various people.
Born in 1914, advisor Song graduated from the former Seoul National University College of Commerce, and participated in the newly established Korean government after liberation as the director general of the finance ministry and served as vice governor of the Bank of Korea in the first republic. He served as the EC ambassador and the first chairman of the Export-Import Bank in the third republic. Since he was inaugurated as the chairman of Tong Yang Nylon in 1980, he served as the vice chairman of the Federation of Korean Industries, the chairman of the Korea Economic Research Institute, the chairman of the Korea Management Association, the chairman of the Korean-American Association and on the board of directors of Rotary International. Currently, he serves as the advisor of Hyosung Group and as honorary chairman of Korea Management Association.
