Kim Kyu-young, head of Tire Reinforcements PU, wins Bronze Order of Industrial Merit

- Contribution to development of industrial technology for synthetic fiber, and expansion of export cited

Kim Kyu-young, head of the Tire Reinforcements PU, received a Bronze Order of Industrial Merit at the "New Technology of Korea Exhibition 2006", on October 25^th. Kim was honored for his contribution to the development of the Company's tire-cord sheet, a product that controls the biggest share in the world's market, as well as polyester textile, while leading the domestic development of related facilities and advanced technology. He was cited for all his efforts to develop Korea's textile technology, shift the nation's major products into high value-added ones, and expand exports.

Kim successfully developed Spandex with domestic technology for the first time in Korea, making important contributions to Hyosung becoming No 2 maker of Spandex. Vice President Kim is considered a witness to the history of Korea's textile industry, who helped raise the nation's synthetic fiber technology to the highest level in the world.

Meanwhile, the award ceremony was held just before the start of "The New Technology of Korea Exhibition", which opened at COEX. The ceremony was attended by some 300 people, including Commerce, Industry and Energy Minister Chung Sey-kyun.
