In recognition for its preemption of the domestic market by localizing STATCOM
On December 9, the Heavy Industry Research Center received an excellence award at the ‘Korea Technology Awards Ceremony 2010’ hosted by the Ministry of Knowledge and Economy. It received this award as its development for the 100MWA STATCOM technology was recognized.
STATCOM (Static Compensator) is one of the groundbreaking 3rd-generation FACTS devices. It is a static Var Compensator used for controlling the voltage of the power grid. It acts very quickly, is convenient to maintain and operate and has excellent low-voltage characteristics. Accordingly, the demand for this outstanding technology is rapidly rising across the world.
