Facility Celebrates its Anniversary with Workers-Initiated Community Volunteerism

Celebrating its 44th anniversary on November 3rd, the Changwon Plant shared its spirit of care and compassion by hosting a “Making Kimchi with Love” program. The senior director of the plant, Kim Deok-su and the Industrial PU president, Shim Sang-sik, as well as some 80 company workers and their families showed up for the event, together producing 1,000 heads of Chinese cabbage kimchi. The spicy Korean staple was then distributed to 200 households in the Changwon area, which represent single elderly households, low-income families and other socially vulnerable populations. The kimchi-making event was 100% voluntary and is a prime example of Hyosung’s hands-on, leg-work involvement with community engagement initiatives. The program was also attended by Changwon Plant workers’ volunteering club Nalgae Hoe (The Wings), the Naedong Industrial Complex Patrol Squad, Neu Purun Jeondang (Evergreen) Swimming Club and other organizations as well as the workers’ families. The program fulfilled its mission as a community- and plant-wide fest to promote unity and cohesion.
