2011.04.21

The Smart Power Equipment R&D Center opened at Busan University on April 21 and three people from the Power & Industrial Systems R&D Center, including Executive VP Park Seung-ryong, were invited to attend. Ten organizations, such as the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI), Korea Electrical Engineering & Science Research Institute, Korea Smart Grid Association, Korea Electric Engineers Association and Hyosung, signed an MOU with Busan University to encourage the development of professional talent in the field and develop new technologies. Through the Smart Power Equipment R&D Center, young researchers who can design and develop smart power devices will be promoted as well as being trained to meet corporate needs. Organizations will work with schools to create internship programs, work-experience programs and special guest lectures, as well as other programs that help raise high quality talent. As one of the participating organizations, Hyosung also took part in the program development and decided to selectively hire from the pool of talent that completes the program.
On this day, Executive VP Park Seung-ryong spoke in a seminar titled ‘Hyosung Power & Industrial System’s Open Innovation through academic-industry cooperation’. He started with an introduction of Hyosung, going on to emphasize the importance of joint research and exchanges of human resources between academia and industry for a successful commercialization of research. Many students listened attentively and Smart Power Equipment R&D Center Chief and Professor Park Gwan-su also showed great interest in this new arrangement, opening new doors of cooperation.
