Cutting expenses and costs
The Ulsan Plant kicked off the TOP project in a ceremony at the Great Hall in the Welfare Center on February 15, with employees and executives like the Plant Chief Cho Chun present. The event started with the declaration for the kick-off, which was followed by a presentation on the background and schedule of the TOP project presented by Technology Development Team Deputy Senior Manager Son Soo-jin, as well as the introduction of the TOP project.
During his Congratulatory Message, Plant Chief Cho said, “The price of lactam has been skyrocketing over the past two years, but to overcome the crisis and continue to grow despite the difficult conditions we need strong willpower and perseverance.” In addition, he emphasized, “we should investigate the factors that can lower overall costs and come up with new ideas that can bring about high profitability through the TOP innovation method and ultimately meet the challenging goals that we have set.” The ‘TOP Success Declaration’ was recited by the Technology Development Team General Managers Jin Seok-bong of the Nylon Polyester Fiber PU and Kim Yeon-pyo of the Tire & Industrial Reinforcements PU and all the participants chanted the TOP motto in unison. The TOP project is an overall innovation campaign to enhance the company’s financial performance and build a sustainable management structure. Goals will be set for each of PU’s products, processes and categories between January 26 to March 16; detailed action plans will be established by May 26 and for the 10 months between June and March of next year, each of the PUs, teams and process groups will be putting their comprehensive plans into action.
