Aggressive marketing: main ad on portal site and fashion magazine spread


With the advent of the official launch of social commerce ‘Social Bee’ (“Sobee”), Galaxia Communications revealed its teaser site, www.socialbee.co.kr. ‘Social Bee’ is a social commerce business that Galaxia has prepared based on long-term strategies and vision. Its slogan reads, ’Together living in Harmony: Sobee living.’
On the opening day of February 7, Social Bee held an event named ‘The First Sobee Living’ in association with Seven-Eleven and Buy the Way. This event, which celebrates the opening of ‘Social Bee,’ sold ‘mobile gift certificates’ at a 100 percent discount to be used like cash at Seven-Eleven and Buy the Way convenience stores, creating a stir among social commerce users.
Meanwhile, Social Bee is carrying out an aggressive marketing campaign, involving screen door ads on subway stations, main ads on key portal sites and ads in fashion magazines. Over 5,000 people participated in the teaser site pre-launch membership event between January 19 and February 6; they received iPads, movie tickets and various other prizes.
※ Social commerce involves selling one product a day at a discount of over 50 percent. The deal is available under the condition that the minimum number of buyers is met. The deal of the day is promoted through SNS and participating merchants, to lure consumers and to spread the news.
