Providing assistance with issuance of tickets and information on facilities

The pilot service for Nautilus Hyosung’s ‘portable kiosk robot capable of financial transactions’ (tentatively called Fantasia Robot) was successfully completed at the robot exhibition hall ‘Robopark’ and the City Hall of Bucheon. Last June, the Ministry of Knowledge and Economy named Nautilus Hyosung as its main service provider and Robotech as the participating service provider for the 2010 robot market testing pilot service project.
The Fantasia Robot is 120 cm high, 61 cm wide, weighs 80 kg and travels 50 cm per second. Its height can be adjusted by touch and comes with a PIR sensor, a laser scanner, a wireless payment module and a ticket issuer. This robot performed its role as a guide (providing information on the location of various departments within city hall and information on municipal affairs as well as details about issuing parking tickets) in the lobby of the Bucheon City Hall. It accomplished its mission so well that it was nicknamed the ‘robot public servant.’ Prior to this, the robot Bucheon handled admission ticket card payment, issued tickets and provided information on exhibition halls at the Robo Park. While moving around on its own, the Fantasia Robot is a new kiosk robot that can provide video and voice information service and at the request of customers, handle payment, issue coupons and tickets, pay utility bills and provide entertainment service. While moving along predetermined routes, it stops when it meets an obstacle or person and then moves along a customer to escort the customer to their destination. It can be used in various places like exhibition halls, theaters, shopping malls, department stores and public institutions.
