The Power and Industrial Systems PG Receiving International Certification for Korea’s First-of-its-kind Geared Wind Turbine
The Power and Industrial Systems PG received certification for its 750KW geared wind turbine from Deutschen Windenergie-Institutes Offshore Certification Centre (DEWI-OCC), German renowned wind energy certification institute. The wind turbine system is a widely commercialized geared type in the global wind energy market with a usage rate of 90 percent. It was the first time for a Korean company to receive the international certification by developing the system with the 100 percent domestic technology.
The President of the Power and Industrial Systems PG, Cho Hyun-moon said, "This certification has reaffirmed the technology and quality of our self-developed wind turbine system on the global stage," adding, "We will continue to enhance the prestige of domestically-produced wind turbine products abroad, along with the 2MW wind turbine system, which will be launched soon."
The Power and Industrial Systems PG installed commercial equipment of this kind in Daegi-ri, Wangsan-myeon, Gangwon Province in Korea at the end of 2007, which operated successfully until March this year and in early 2008, it acquired the design certification, the phase prior to the type certification.
