- Company honored in three textile products, including polyester ultra microfiber
Hyosung clinched three awards in the textile category among Korea's top 100 products (as of 2006) in terms of global market share, which were selected by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy. The company's world best products include ▲ polyester filament yarn, ▲ polyester ultra microfiber, and ▲ (polyester) yarn for tire reinforcement.
Hyosung's polyester filament yarn controls a 48.3 percent share of the world market, as it exports $8.4 billion worth of the product. The polyester ultra microfiber, produced through direct spinning, claims 52.6 percent of the global market with $12 billion in overseas shipments. The yarn for tire reinforcement has a 33.3 percent share, with $142 million in export.
Among other top 100 Korean products in terms of global market share are high density polyethylene by LG Chem, and LCD and PDP TVs by Samsung Electronics.
