Hyosung Chairman & Group CEO S.R.Cho attended the Korea-Japan Business Council, which was held in Tokyo for two days from November 13, as the Chairman of the Korean side. At the session, the Japanese business leaders promised to provide positive support for Yeosu's bid as a candidate site for the 2012 World Expo. The Korean delegation stressed the possibility of increasing bilateral exchanges between the two countries on the occasion of the 2012 expo, enhancing the level of mutual interest among Asian countries and contributing to peace in the region.
Paying a courtesy visit to Japanese Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda, S.R.Cho said that he hoped to see a summit held between the leaders of the two countries with the election of the new President in Korea and that summits would be held periodically, as in the pre-2005 period. Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda said that he would review S.R.Cho's proposal positively.
S.R.Cho also asked for an increase in the number of flights, in expectation of the increase in the number of Korean and Japanese tourists visiting each other's countries and the commencement of the operation of the tripartite shuttle between Korea-China-Japan (Gimpo-Hongchao-Haneda). The Japanese government and the three leaders of the Liberal Democratic Party said that they would review it positively.
