The multi-faceted program was both entertaining and educating
For three days starting on August 9th, the Changwon Plant hosted a summer camp for the children of its employees to help them enjoy a fun, inspiring summer recess. The camp was located at the Damul Training Center in Danseong-myeon, Sancheong-gun in South Gyeongsang Province. Participants, 137 youngsters including 4th graders through junior high school students, enjoyed the theme “Kids Searching for Goguryo 2010.” This was a great initiative for learning the history of the Goguryeo period (37 BC - 668), an ancient Korean kingdom. The well-versed programming also included visits to Jinju Castle, Jinju Museum and the Sancheong Herb Medicine Museum and allowed participants hands-on experience with traditional Korean archery. The participating children got up early in the morning, wrote letters to their parents and shared their feelings and thoughts about the camp through a show-and-tell session, indicating how much more they’d grown up during the camp. This program kicked off last year and will be looked forward to for many more years to come.
