HIS Secures a Deal to Supply Storage Space to NEIS

2010.07.30
USP-V/VM, UVM, etc. to be provided

Hyosung Information Systems (HIS) announced its plans to supply enterprise-level storage USP-V/VM and cloning, including UVM solutions to the next-generation NEIS operation infrastructure project storage, which is supervised by the Korea Education & Research Information Service (KERIS).
Aware of the advent of the replacement timing for its aging equipment in the existing NEIS, KERIS has recently embarked on a system integration and enhancement project to ensure greater efficiency of its information resources, thereby implementing budget cuts. The next-generation NEIS operation infrastructure project entails enhancing the systems currently operating at KERIS’s NEIS supervision center. This also includes 16 municipal and provincial education offices as well as some elementary, junior high and high schools. The main part of the project involves the installation and integration of the servers, network equipment/systems, storages and other hardware infrastructure components.
With the infrastructure establishment deal, HIS will cater to 17 institutions (16 city/province education offices and 1 supervision center) with a vast scale of storages and solutions, including some 50 units of high-end Hitachi Universal Storage Platform (USP) V/VM, 50 SAN switches, storage cloning solutions and Hitachi Universal Volume Manger (UVM), a virtual solution program capable of realizing green-friendly IT goals. The total capacity of the offering is close to 1.2 petabyte.
