The continued bi-annual event inspires young scientific talent
Hyosung’s Changwon Plant hosted a junior engineering and technology class from April 5th through 15th for the fifth and sixth graders from Naedong Elementary School nearby. Conceived to help promote children’s interest in science and improve their scientific thinking, the class features some of the plant’s science and engineering specialists as day teachers, engaging children in lab-oriented science classes.
Some of the themes selected for the latest E&T classes included “Fly, Hovercraft,” featuring the continuous pumping of air into a vessel to achieve flying and “The Undulating Fish Boat,” showcasing a robotic fish materialized via biomimetics technology. Even scientific principles that might come across as too difficult for young students were rendered in such a way to facilitate their understanding as well as boosting their sense of achievement.
This engineering and technology class has been offered twice each year at Changwon Plant since 2004, drawing positive response from the school and its students.
