Hyosung EBARA is leading the training and mentoring of pump specialists through aggressive industry-academia collaboration. The PU signed an MOU with Pukyong National University (PKNU) to open a master’s degree program in mechanical pump fluid at the university’s Graduate School (Division of Mechanical Engineering).
Hyosung EBARA PU is planning to open an official master’s degree program in mechanical pump fluid at the PKNU’s Division of Mechanical Engineering, starting from Spring Semester 2010. The university and the PU signed an MOU on the 23rd.
The company will pay tuition for the five master’s students selected for this semester and will offer further support for their education. The financial help will drive the employees to fulfill their needs for self-improvement and reinforce their expertise expected to be on par with the company’s technical prowess.
The PKNU has agreed to offer coursework lectures at the company’s Changwon Plant to ensure the program’s field-oriented curriculum. The school has also agreed to require the students to propose topics for their master’s thesis that directly address the needs in their work. That way, the students will be able to secure the kinds of technological power needed in the field and to increase their ability to solve problems.
Mr. Jung Yeon-ju (right), president of Hyosung EBARA PU, said, “Signing an MOU with the PKNU is our way of helping the master’s students to enjoy a great opportunity to learn new things we can use in the field right away and to secure our technological edge to help us grow to be the world’s top-rated company, based on the university’s outstanding research findings.” He also said, “This collaboration between the university and us will hopefully set a good example in industry-academia cooperation and the promotion of regional economy.”
