In the spirit of the holiday season, Nautilus Hyosung held an event dubbed “Share the Rice of Love” at the Kangnam Welfare Center on December 9th to support isolated, lower-income families in the city. The employees delivered a 20 kg pack of rice to each of the 200 single elderly households in Kangnam-gu, the district where corporate headquarters is located.
The rice, amounting to 4,000 kg or worth 10 million won, was grown in the eco-friendly, organic Wureongi (freshwater snail) method, and purchased directly from Wolmyeong-ri, Yanggu-gun in Gangwon Province — a town affiliated with Nautilus Hyosung. The event served dual purposes: helping the community’s less-fortunate and promoting exchange and cooperation between the rural area and its corporate partner.
“Knowing that we are way behind meeting our goal of helping people in the community this year,” said one of the employees, “we held this event to celebrate the spirit of the season and gave out the rice of love with our sincerest wishes, so that lower-income families in the community will get that extra help they need to make ends meet and feel connected to the world once again. “
Nautilus Hyosung also purchased Kimchi ingredients, including Chinese cabbage and chili pepper powder, from Wolmyeong-ri, its affiliated agricultural town, and made 2,000 heads of cabbage kimchi to donate to single elderly households in the community.
