R&DB Labs Wins Minister of Education, Science and Technology Prize at Korean Science and Technology Awards
- Acknowledged for Korea’s 1st successful development and commercialization of TAC film
Hyosung R&DB Labs won the Minister of Education, Science and Technology Prize at the annual Korean Science and Technology Awards on December 29th. The award was granted in recognition of the institute’s successful development and commercialization of TAC (tri-acetyl cellulose) film used in LCD panels — the first such achievement in Korea.
The latest development has promoted advancement of the local optical film manufacturing industry keen on functional/high-added value products and has secured competitive power of local electronic material and part manufacturers. Co-hosted by the Minister of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST) and the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF), the Korean Science and Technology Awards is granted annually to institutes across scientific and technological fields that have led the advancement of science and technology at state level with creative ideas and implementations. For 2009, the awards were also given to the Agency for Defense Development, the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology, and Daejeon Metropolitan City.
