The PP/DH PU held a technical seminar on December 8th as part of its marketing campaign to create local consumer demands for its strategic product — high stiffness poly-propylene block copolymer (HPPB) for sewage pipes. Featuring a theme of “Development Status and Prospects of Poly-Propylene Sewage Pipes,” the seminar welcomed major sewage pipe consumers like the Korea Land & Housing Corporation and the Environmental Management Corporation as well as design firms and PP sewage pipe developers.

Poly-propylene (“PP”) is an environmentally-friendly material with lower specific gravity and higher strength and is being widely used in Europe and other advanced countries. Starting in the late 1990s, development and use of high-strength products are rapidly gaining popularity among consumers, thanks, at least partly, to the emergence of PVC-related environmental issues. In the Middle East, influenced heavily by trends in the European market, an increasing number of builders are using PP for plastic sewage pipes. Hyosung’s PP/DH PU, too, has been tuned to such trends, as it has been developing and exporting high-strength sewage pipes to a number of developed countries as well as to the Middle East for the past few years. (In Korea, PP pipes are not being used for sewage piping.)

PP/DH PU’s technical seminar was attended by some 60 VIP guests, including clients, academia, government agencies, sewage pipe design companies, and PP sewage pipe developers. Lee Eung-nak, President of the PP/DH PU, stressed the latest trend for PP pipes are of high demand.
