Hyosung R&DB Lab introduced in KBS Sponge 2.0 in relations to cutting-edge plastic bottle technology
Hyosung R&DB Lab introduced in Sponge 2.0 of KBS to talk about the cutting-edge plastic bottle technology.
Under the title “Why does a cola bottle not explode when it is shaken,” an experiment of comparing a pressure resistance (PR) bottle and heat resistance (HR) bottle of the same weight was conducted on the show aired on May 15. The question was proposed based on the fact that the plastic bottles used for carbonated beverage had a different bottom design from other plastic bottles. In the experiment, the PR bottle used for carbonated beverage only expanded a little, but the HR bottle exploded, sending cola everywhere. Hyosung R&DB Lab provided technical support for the plastic bottle experiment and filming, and Jeong-gon Kim, the Packaging Materials Research Team Leader, explained the secret of the PR bottle bottom that evenly distributes the internal pressure created by carbon dioxide.
There are 4 types of plastic bottles developed and manufactured for different uses. Normal resistance bottle is used for mineral water, PR bottle is used for carbonated beverages, HR bottle is used for juice or tea, and heat and pressure resistance bottle is used for milk and mixed carbonated beverages.
