## 5. History and Milestones / 연혁 및 마일스톤

Hyosung originated in Tongyang Nylon, established in 1966, which began producing nylon yarn and industrial materials at its Ulsan plant. In the 1970s it expanded into chemical fibers and entered heavy industry through the acquisition of Hanyoung Engineering in 1975, completing the Changwon heavy industry plant in 1977. In 1980 it built the Gumi computer plant, laying the foundations of today's Hyosung Heavy Industries and Hyosung TNS. In 1998 the group's main companies were merged into a single entity, Hyosung Corporation. A spin-off in June 2018 established the current holding company structure.

Hyosung pursues sustainability management across Environmental, Social and Governance priorities, comprising three environmental themes, six social themes and two governance themes. The environmental themes are Green Management, guided by Green Management Vision 2030; Climate Response, supporting national and international carbon neutrality policies; and Pollution Reduction. The social themes are Human Rights, Collaborative Partnership, Supply Chain Management, Safety & Health, Corporate Social Responsibility and Information Security.
