The circuit breaker division of Hyosung's Power Systems PU participates in the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Jigmeling 400kV GIS substation in Bhutan Jan.24, 2018

On December 30, the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the ‘Jigmeling 400kV GIS substation’ was held. The circuit breaker division of the Power Systems PU of Hyosung’s Power & Industrial Systems PG won this turnkey project from Bhutan back in 2015.

The Jigmeling substation is Bhutan’s first 400kV GIS substation. It is a core national project of Bhutan for exporting its abundant hydroelectric power resources to India. High-ranking government officials, including the Prime Minister of Bhutan, attended the ceremony, and celebrated and gave praise concerning the outstanding achievement.

Of particular note, Bhutanese Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay said in his congratulatory speech at the ceremony, "The Jigmeling project was an important project on which the entire national interest of Bhutan depends. I am very grateful to Hyosung for finishing this project on time, and Bhutan’s profits will increase as the electric power of Jigmeling is exported to India, and I expect that the national interest of Bhutan will further increase after the completion of the MHPA, PHPA-1 and PHPA-2 projects that are currently underway."

Since 2012, Hyosung has won contracts for all extra-high-voltage circuit breakers of the major hydro-electric power plants and substations in Bhutan, e,g, the Jigmeling substation, PHPA-I, PHPA-II, MHPA and Singigaon, which made the ceremony all the more meaningful.
